It's been awhile since I wrote a game review. I completed Rise of the Tomb Raider and World of Final Fantasy this month and I will say that both games are unique in their own ways. As usual,I tend not to write things about the story in my reviews due to potential spoilers. Anywho, without further ado, here's my reviews for World of Final Fantasy and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Characters: Reynn and Lann are the main characters of the game along with a mirage named Tama, who always uses "the" a lot, which gets quite old. I loved Tama's design, but I really didn't find myself caring for Reynn and Lann until towards the end of the game. I felt like they were a Roxas and Namine look-a-like and pretty forgettable. They do change size, which can be beneficial to combat and how you use your mirages. You do gain allies in the older Final Fantasy characters, which adds a nice touch to the game without taking spotlight from the main characters.

Combat The combat was pretty much ATB(Action Time Battle), which can be good or bad if you like particular combat systems. Basically, with the mirages you befriend, you create stacks. So your main character and migrates are basically small, medium, large, and x-large(summons). The main characters can either be medium or large depending on their size on the world map. Also, it's important how you stack your team because if you send up with a stack with weak stability, it's kind hard to function in battle because if your stacks fall, you can't move from a certain amount of time.

Leveling: The leveling system was a tad bit annoying in the beginning. Basically, EXP is divide up to six ways if you have a full team, plus the mirages that are not actively on your team, but not in storage, will gain 8% of total exp for each battle. Towards the end of the game you can find different areas to grind and gain level's quickly. I needed this because I switched out my mirages a lot throughout the story and need to a quick way to level up newer mirages quickly.

Overall Thoughts: I thought the story was a bit boring, until about 80% of the main campaign. Some stuff is revealed about the main character that makes the story more interesting. What attracted me to this game in the first place was that it felt like a Final Fantasy meets Pokemon game because you do capture, train, and befriend mirages. Also, the mirages change into different forms, which gives them some neat abilities and skills. So now, the question is this one of my favorite games for 2017 so far? Eh...probably not. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't great, it was just okay.

ROTR is the direct sequel to the 2013 reboot. There was a comic book that was released ROTR, which I highly recommend reading if you played the first game. It will help you understand why some of the characters from the first game do not appear in the sequel.

Characters: If there's one thing the Tomb Raider does well, it's Lara's character development. She was so bad ass in this game, unlike the first game, where she became bad ass at the end. She is definitely one of my favorite female video game characters.

Graphics: I will say that my favorite thing about ROTR was the graphics. It was so beautiful and felt like I was in the game also. My only complaint though is some of the minor characters model looked a bit awkward, but Lara was still queen though, so it's no biggie.

Gameplay: I completed the majority this game using remote play on my PS Vita. The controls were a bit glitchy and I ended up having to log onto my PS4 to complete some of the boss battles. I think with the amount of controls in the game, I should've played exclusively on my PS4. Besides, the controls, everything else with the gameplay was great. ROTR added a great selection of weapons to choose from. I'm a bow and arrow type of girl, so the upgrades to the arrow gameplay were amazing. I had so much fun doing stealth kills with the bow and arrow. Oh and another one of my favorite stealth kills was dragging people under the water and killing them. That was so cool that few times I got to do that.

Overall: This game was damn good. If you own a PS4, you do get the DLC with the game at no additional cost. I was surprised that this game didn't do well when it initial came out, but then again, I think it came out the same day Fallout 4 was released. Oh well...this game is going on my list of my favorite games for 2017.

Now that I'm done with those games, here's my current backlog:

Fire Emblem Fates:Conquest(3DS)
The Order: 1886(PS4)
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (3DS)
Final Fantasy Type-0(PS4)
Final Fantasy XV (PS4)
Xenoblade X (Wii U)

The next game will probably be Final Fantasy XV or Type-0. I usually clear my backlog of Nintendo games when I'm traveling.

Wishlist or Pre-ordered:
Kingdom Hearts 2.8(PS4)
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 remix(PS4)-Preordered
Fire Emblem Warriors(3ds)
Fire Emblem Echoes(3ds)
Life is Strange(PS4)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time(3ds)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess(Wii U)
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind(Wii U)

I know that the Nintendo Switch was recently announced. To be honest, I wasn't impressed with it, so I'm going to pass on it for now until I see a better gaming catalogue. I really do hope that this system doesn't bomb like the Wii U. Nintendo needs to be a little more creative with the designs of their system. A lot of people I know didn't purchase the Wii U because it was frequently mistake for the Wii. Also, I feel like Nintendo doesn't market some of the stuff very well. I mean we didn't get in-depth details about the Nintendo Switch until earlier this month. If a console that you want to do well is coming in out March 2017, you should've started the marketing campaign mid-2016 to get people excited for it. That's just my opinion though.

Anywho, enough talk about video games. I hope everyone is having a good weekend.
